Why did I start writing novels?
I suspect most of us have a creative side to our personality waiting to be expressed. More to the point, most of us have a story to tell. Writing is a wonderful distraction from our daily routine which allows us to escape into another world. For me personally, I want my books to leave the reader thinking about the things that are hidden in my stories, but not always shown in black print. It is my preference to leave a movie, a book a song or any work of art with ideas that extend beyond the actual content of the art form.
One of the ideas I keep in mind when writing is to make my characters be the people you might know. I like for my characters to have virtue and flaws just like the rest of us have. It is also my preference for the characters to tell the story. Just as we do in real life situations, we listen to the words people say to us, watch their behavior and actions and only then do we begin to "know" that person. By the time you reach the end of my novels, I want you to know the character as a person and understand why they made the choices they made.
In several of my novels "Coincidence by Design", "The Mirror Image at Acadia", and in "Brother Willy's Traveling Salvation Show", I use a touch of mysticism to enhance the novel. The use of mysticism allows me to make a larger point that is often somewhat subliminal in the novel.
I write because I like to write and I respect the the opinion of people who read my novels. I ask that you provide feed back by using the contact form on the home page. I DO NOT sell, give or in any way disclose your private information. Nor will I drive you crazy with emails from me. I like to talk with readers about their interpretations of my work which is why I have the contact form. I would also ask that you offer a review on my novels if you have a few minutes to spare. Thank you all for your support.
Most of all, I encourage you to tell your story. We now live in a time where we can all tell our stories to the world. If you have never written a book before, then now is the time. Don't let your writing become work, allow it to be fun.
